      First, to save on insurance rates for teenagers, be sure to keep a clean driving record.  Many teenagers do not realize the impact receiving tickets or being involved in accidents will have on their driving record.  Not only will it raise rates immediately, but it will take a long time to get rid of that reputation with your insurance carrier.  A teenager will see their insurance rates skyrocket when a ticket is received or an accident is involved.  Insurance companies do not give second chances.  They make you pay through your wallet because they realize the high risk. 

     Second, it is helpful for you to choose a vehicle that is safer and more modest than perhaps your teenager would like.  The sportier the vehicle you purchase for them, the more likely they are to speed or drive recklessly and be given tickets or be involved in an accident.
